Mitutoyo’s M Plan Apo NIR Series objective lens series correct for chromatic aberration throughout the visible light spectrum and the near infrared region to focus visible through near infrared (NIR) wavelengths onto the same plane for sharpest possible image. All models are optimized for brightfield observations and laser microscopy applications in the visible and NIR spectrum, and the M Plan Apochromat NIR B objective lenses are ideal for use of YAG laser fundamental and second harmonic transmission at 1064nm and 532nm. They all feature an ultra-long working distance optics, anti-reflective coatings and enhanced functions to increase transmissivity in the near infrared region. The workpiece image can be focused within the focal depth whenever the wavelength is from the visible range (λ= 480nm) (NIR Bmodels λ=420nm) up to near-infrared range (λ=1800nm)(NIR B λ=1064nm), making these objectives ideal for laser repair applications. However, when the wavelength used exceeds 1100nm, the focusing position may deviate slightly from the position in the visible range due to changes in glass dispersion and refractive index.

Features

  • Apochromatic (Apo) objectives feature corrected color aberration in a wide part of the visible range.  This has been achieved by selectively using anomalous dispersion glass and ultra-low dispersion glass with a low refractive index. The wavelength-based refractive index in these types of glass differs from that of ordinary optical glass. Aberrations tend to occur for an objective lens with a longer working distance, and chromatic aberration is especially likely to occur.  This correction of lateral chromatic aberration and astigmatism results in the M Plan Apo NIR Series products capability to provide the sharpest possible image.

  • The Finescope 70 Microscope Series is an infinity-corrected optical system that uses both the 378- Series objective lens and the MT Series imaging lens (tube lens) to generate images with aberration correction performed independently on the objective lens and imaging lens. This allows these products to be used independently or as part of an expandable system, with the imaging lens set as needed for customer applications.
