Mitutoyo G Plan Apochromat objective lenses with cover slip corrections are designed for brightfield observations made through a thick glass cover ( Nom. t=3.5 mm, BK-7 cover glass) in the visible light spectrum. Image contrast may be reduced sharply when using a typical objective lens to observe a glass covered sample.  This is due to the spherical aberration introduced by the glass cover over the sample, and is especially pronounced with high magnification or an objective lens with a high numerical aperture rating.

Features

• • Apochromatic (Apo) objectives feature corrected color aberration in a wide part of the visible range.  This has been achieved by selectively using anomalous dispersion glass and ultra-low dispersion glass with a low refractive index. The wavelength-based refractive index in these types of glass differs from that of ordinary optical glass. Aberrations tend to occur for an objective lens with a longer working distance, and chromatic aberration is especially likely to occur. This correction of lateral chromatic aberration and astigmatism results in the G Plan Apo Series products capability to provide the sharpest possible image.

• The Mitutoyo G Plan Apochromat objectives provide the long working distance required when observing samples through a thick glass cover.  
• The Finescope 70 Microscope Series is an infinity-corrected optical system that uses both the 378- Series objective lens and the MT Series imaging lens (tube lens) to generate images with aberration correction performed independently on the objective lens and imaging lens. This allows these products to be used independently or as part of an expandable system, with the imaging lens set as needed for customer applications.
