Product Description
MRC Impeller No. 11
is a large-diameter, high-shear sawtooth dissolver blade that produces radial flow and concentrated turbulence for powder wetting, pigment and filler dispersion, agglomerate breakup, emulsification, and other high-speed mixing applications. Available in 50, 80, 100, 120, and 140 mm (1.97, 3.15, 3.94, 4.72, and 5.51 in.) diameters, the No. 11 family extends MRC’s dissolver-blade range to larger laboratory and process-development batches.
Applications
Pigment and Filler Dispersion
Generates concentrated shear for wetting and distributing pigments, mineral fillers, dyes, carbon-based powders, and other fine solids used in paints, coatings, inks, adhesives, and specialty formulations.
Powder Incorporation and Agglomerate Breakup
The raised sawtooth perimeter creates intense localized turbulence that can help incorporate dry ingredients and separate loosely bound powder agglomerates during high-speed processing.
Liquid-Liquid Dispersion and Emulsification
Suitable for laboratory emulsion development, droplet breakup, immiscible-liquid dispersion, and formulation work requiring greater shear than a conventional propeller or paddle can provide.
Resin, Polymer, and Additive Processing
Useful for incorporating resins, gums, thickeners, stabilizers, and other formulation ingredients when rapid wetting and localized high-shear mixing are required.
Features
- Sawtooth perimeter produces concentrated turbulence and high localized shear.
- Raised teeth engage material above and below the blade plane.
- Radial-flow design accelerates material outward from the shaft toward the vessel wall.
- Supports powder wetting, agglomerate breakup, pigment dispersion, and droplet reduction.

FAQs
What type of impeller is the MRC Impeller No. 11?
It is a sawtooth dissolver blade designed for high-speed radial-flow mixing and concentrated localized shear.
How should I choose a blade diameter?
Choose according to batch volume, vessel diameter, target tip speed, product viscosity, desired batch turnover, and available mixer power and torque. Larger blades interact with more material but place substantially greater load on the shaft and drive.
Can the dissolver blade create a vortex?
Yes. A controlled vortex can assist powder drawdown, but excessive vortexing may entrain air, cause foaming, expose the blade, or create splashing. Speed, blade depth, vessel geometry, and addition rate should be controlled carefully.
Warranty
The MRC Impeller No. 11 is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service. For warranty assistance, replacement parts, product support, or application guidance, contact LabGear USA technical support. Warranty valid for 12 months.
