Product Description
MRC Impeller No. 12
is a 100 mm (3.94 in.) two-blade centrifugal-opening impeller designed to fold inward for insertion and open during rotation. It's classified as an axial-flow stirrer for liquid blending, vessel circulation, powder incorporation, light solids suspension, heat transfer, and other low-viscosity mixing applications.
Applications
Restricted-Opening Vessel Mixing
The inward-folding blades provide a narrower insertion profile than a fixed 100 mm impeller, making the design useful for compatible vessels with limited access openings.
General Liquid Blending
Provides axial circulation for dilution, reagent preparation, liquid-additive incorporation, pH adjustment, and routine blending of low-viscosity liquids.
Powder Incorporation and Light Solids Suspension
The vessel-scale circulation can help distribute readily wetted powders, fine particles, catalysts, and other light solids throughout the batch.
Heat Transfer and Temperature Equalization
Axial circulation repeatedly moves liquid past vessel walls, jackets, coils, heaters, and temperature probes to support more uniform batch temperatures.
Features
- Two pivoting blades fold inward when stationary and open outward during rotation.
- Centrifugal opening mechanism expands the impeller to its working diameter inside the vessel.
- Compact folded profile supports insertion through openings smaller than the full working diameter.
- Open-blade construction supports liquid blending, powder incorporation, light solids suspension, and heat transfer.

FAQs
Why do the blades fold inward?
The folded position creates a narrower insertion profile than a rigid 100 mm impeller, allowing the assembly to enter compatible vessels with restricted openings before expanding inside the vessel.
How do the blades open?
As the shaft rotates, centrifugal force pulls the pivoting blades outward. They remain extended while sufficient rotational speed is maintained.
